Emotional Wellness as a Small Business Owner 

During these unprecedented times, emotional wellness and mental health are hot topics. The stress is compounded for small business owners as they have more responsibilities to juggle, worrying about their own finances, their employees, and forecasting for the future. 

Small businesses and emotional wellness

The number one thing small business owners struggle with is uncertainty. You cannot plan to set goals, set a budget or predict anything. Nothing is certain anymore. Many people underestimate what this does to a person’s mind. They simply lose hope. Although it is difficult for individuals, it is increasingly difficult for small business owners. Business owners thrive in goal setting, forecasting and studying market trends. Due to these hard times, small business owners are unable to operate using those parameters.  This is something different for businesses, making it harder to sustain and grow. 

Wellness sessions 

Dr. Gladney hosted a series of wellness sessions through the DFW Women’s Business Center. Small business owners learned how to understand and manage their emotions in the midst of everything going on. By learning techniques to prevent getting caught up in their feelings, they use logic for decision making and to look for solutions. Despite the uncertainty, they feel empowered to move forward. They will also learn stress management and minimize and dilute their stress.
